Two associations: actors can be held accountable for damages to their works caused by improper words and deeds

On the 26th, the China Federation of radio and television social organizations and the China network audio visual program Service Association recently released the "production and operation specifications for online TV series production teams (Trial)". It is mentioned that the improper words and deeds of actors and actresses will have a negative impact on the TV series and online dramas they participate in, and the actors and actresses should exercise self-discipline in accordance with the provisions of the contract. If their improper words and deeds cause specific losses to the works (including but not limited to suspension of broadcasting, withdrawal of files, cancellation of film purchase contracts, etc.), the producer (production agency) has the right to investigate their responsibilities and claim compensation.
In addition, the cast members shall not concurrently work in multiple production teams. If they have to leave the production team in case of important matters such as overseas visits, national performance tasks and participating in awards, they must report in advance and obtain the consent of the producer before leaving the production team.
The specification also requires that the crew should strengthen the protection of animals participating in the shooting, set the corresponding animal shooting duration and safety protection measures according to the shooting situation, and use the animals provided by professional animal training companies and personnel for shooting as far as possible, and do not harm or abuse animals.
The crew should establish a professional ethics evaluation system for cast members, and report to the industry association or relevant departments if there is conclusive evidence of cast members' violations of professional ethics. The crew shall not engage in vicious competition and shall not use actors as the sole bargaining standard.
