2022 Fu Lei Translation and Publishing Award winners announced
Gu Xiaoyan, Ph. D. in French language and Literature from Nanjing University, majoring in translation theory and practice, is now a French teacher in Nanjing University of Finance and Economics. In 2021, he was shortlisted for the Frey Award for the Book of problems.
The jury of the 14th Fu Lei Translation and Publishing Award made a final evaluation on November 20 and selected three award-winning works this year. Gu Xiaoyan won the social science award for her translation of the Cathedral Age: art and Society, 980mur1420 (George Dolby, Nanjing University Press), Liu Nanqi won the Literature Award for his translation of the Book of boundaries (Edmund Yabes, Guangxi normal University Press), and the Rookie Award was awarded to Lu Ruyu. Her translation is the rejection Library (by David Fengjinos, published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House).

Gu Xiaoyan, Ph. D. in French language and Literature from Nanjing University, majoring in translation theory and practice, is now a French teacher in Nanjing University of Finance and Economics. In 2013, he won the translator Scholarship of the French National Library Center and chaired a number of translation-related projects, including Jacques Tournier's "the coat of Mozart and the Grand Duke", Laurent Washaw's "the woman in the Shadow" and Claude Samuel's "the History of Clara Schumann".

The Cathedral Age: art and Society, 980mur1420 is an important work in French history. Its academic value in the study of medieval culture has always been recognized by people both inside and outside the industry.

Liu Nanqi, a native of Beijing, graduated from the Department of Western language and Literature of Peking University in 1982 and the School of Law of the University of International Business and Economics in 2001. In the 1980s, he served as the Economic Commissioner of the Chinese Embassy in Central Africa. Long-term engaged in foreign economic relations and trade affairs. He has been a visiting professor and graduate student supervisor in the School of International Business and Economics of the University of International Business and Economics since 2014. Literary translations include Baudelaire's Flower of Evil, the melancholy of Paris, Yeme's three Bells at Twilight, the Funeral of Spring Flowers, the Book of problems, the Book of similarity, the Book of boundaries, a stranger with a pocket book under his arm and I build my Home, and several poems on Bonafua's poems have been translated and published in relevant journals. In 2021, he was shortlisted for the Frey Award for the Book of problems.

Edmund Abbez's Book of boundaries shows the writer's deep reflection on the basic problems of the world, life, Judaism, self, discourse, writing and so on. The cross-stylistic text is full of all kinds of abstract word images.
Liu Nanqi's translation skillfully conveys the beauty of melody and rhythm in this kind of philosophical prose poetry and is full of musical sense. It is commendable that the translator has been tirelessly translating the works of Abbeth for several years.

Lu Ruyu, a doctor in French from Peking University and a lecturer in the Department of French at Renmin University of China, has been translating French novels since 2013. At present, a total of three translations have been published. They are all works by David Feng Jinos: subtle, Charlotte and rejected Library.
Award-winning comments
David von Kinos's "rejection Library" is full of interest, suspense and humor. The text seems relaxed, but it actually contains deep emotion and serious thinking. Lu Ruyu's translation well reflects the original witty and playful style of the novel.
After three hours of heated discussion among the judges, the three award-winning works stood out from the ten finalists. This year's Fu Lei Award received a total of 32 translations, with half of the two categories: 16 for social sciences and 16 for literature. Yu Zhongxian is the chairman of the jury. He is a translator and former editor of World Literature. The jury consists of seven permanent judges, two 2021 Fu Lei Award winners (Huang Yaqin and Zhang Wen) and two special guests (Miao Wei and Chen Guanzhong).
