The documentary film "Kangxi and Louis XIV" has double happiness: shortlisted for this year's "Golden Rooster" and recommended by "Golden Seagull"

On October 27, the press conference of the 2024 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival announced the nomination list for the 37th China Film Golden Rooster Award. Among them, the Sino-French documentary film "Kangxi and Louis XIV" was nominated for "Best Documentary/Scientific and Educational Film"! It is reported that the final list of winners will be announced at the Golden Rooster Awards Ceremony in mid-November.

"Kangxi and Louis XIV" is produced by Guangzhou City Radio and Television Station, Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd., French Lucky Light Film Music Company, and distributed by Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd. and Bai 'an Film (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

This film tells the story of more than 300 years ago, King Louis XIV of France sent six "King's Mathematicians" to China, thus opening far-reaching exchanges between China and France in science and technology, commerce, ideology and culture. At that time, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty actively interacted with Louis XIV with an open mind and wrote a good story of exchanges and mutual learning between the two major civilizations of the East and the West. "Kangxi and Louis XIV" received strong support from the State Film Administration and was designated as a "Key Support Project of the Propaganda Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee." In May this year,"Kangxi and Louis XIV" made its world debut as one of the ten China films at the 10th French China Film Festival and was screened in ten French cities. Later, it appeared on the joint China film booth of the Cannes Film Festival.

In addition,"Kangxi and Louis XIV" has recently won the Recommended Works Award in the Cultural and Historical Category of the "Golden Seagull" Promotion Ceremony of the 3rd Chinese Documentary Film Conference. This time, it was shortlisted as the "Golden Rooster", which is a double blessing.

The film adopts a separate distribution and long-term screening model, and is shown in multiple key cities across the country in turn. Recently, the film launched a special series of screenings for universities in Beijing. It has completed screenings at Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tsinghua University, and Peking University. It will also visit universities such as Beihang University and Beijing Normal University.
