On July 25, 2023, the Beijing Municipal No. 3 Intermediate people's Court held a hearing in accordance with the law on the case of appellant Wu Yifan's rape and mass adultery. As it involves the privacy of the victim, the case shall be heard in private in accordance with the law.

On November 25, 2022, the Beijing Chaoyang District people's Court issued a judgment of first instance on the case, sentenced the defendant Wu Yifan to fixed-term imprisonment of 11 years and six months for rape, plus deportation, and sentenced to one year and ten months for the crime of gathering a crowd and adultery, and decided to carry out fixed-term imprisonment of 13 years, plus deportation. The defendant Wu Yifan complained and filed an appeal to the Beijing Municipal No. 3 Intermediate people's Court.

Before the hearing, the people's court notified the Canadian Embassy in China in accordance with the relevant regulations. During the trial of the case, the litigation rights of appellant Wu Yifan were protected in accordance with the law.

This case will be sentenced in accordance with the law.
